The 10 week program is designed with two goals in mind. The first goal is to provide weekly introduction to soccer for children ages 4 and 5 years old. The second goal of the program is to teach parents who are new to soccer how to become coaches.
Each Saturday morning during the program, a group of experienced trainers instruct volunteer parents/coaches how to teach a new skill to the young players. The trainers make sure the coaches know how to demonstrate the skill and incorporate it in a full practice session. With the help of the trainers, the coaches then run a practice with the children for about 40 minutes. Every week following the practice, the kids will play a 30 minute scrimmage. The children are split up amongst kids of their own age group and gender. The players are taught the rules and skills of soccer while enabling them to enjoy playing the game in an organized and fun way.
BSA provides each player with a club tee shirt, to be worn at each session. Other equipment needs are shinguards (Mandatory!), athletic shorts, and soccer socks. Either soccer cleats or sneakers may be worn.
If you have specific questions for our Program Director, you can send an email to InHouse@berkeleysoccer.com. If your child was born between the dates of August 1, 2004 and July 31, 2006, he or she is eligible for the Inhouse program for the Fall 2010 season.
